WHO WE ARE:
East African Tour Guides & Drivers Association (EATGDA) is an association of practicing tour guides /driver guides who are actively involved in the tourism sector and operate within and beyond Kenyan tourist circuits. Our membership embodies all regions of Kenya and comprises freelance tour guides, naturalists, on-site guides and those under active employment with various tour operators. EATGDA is a NON-POLITICAL association.
MISSION STATEMENT:
To form a formidable team of members to work together both as professionals and as partners guided by relentless focus for growth and self-regulation. We will constantly strive to implement the critical initiatives required to achieve our goals. In doing this, we will form a market-focused, process-centered organization that develops and delivers innovative solutions to our members. Of equal importance is to deliver a sustainable tourism model and endeavor to improve all the time.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
- a) Partner with Tourism Regulatory Authority to promote professional guiding standards in Kenya and East African destinations through skillful guiding and dissemination of rightful information on our product.
- b) Set up high level of discipline and integrity in the hospitality industry both as driver guides and as tour guides.
- c) Educate the host communities in various tour circuits on the importance of environment conservation and wildlife protection for the sake of a better world for the next generation.
- d) Safeguard the livelihood of both guides and other stakeholders, we intend to harmonize and standardize driver guides and guides’ remuneration & wages in tandem with the current economic status of the country.
- e) Endeavor to invest in training of our members either through government sponsored programs or EATGDA funded training programs with the aim of having a purely professional workforce.
- f) Product descriptions: EATGDA consist of membership across all touristic circuits in Kenya and beyond. Our membership is either through direct registration, affiliate regional associations and honorary. Our database our guides includes safari guides, linguists, naturalists, mountain guides, ornithologists, onsite guides and city guides
- g) Description of services: Services offered by members of our organization include; tour guiding, bird watching, translations, safari consultation, lectures, tour vehicles
- h) History, expansion, and growth: EATGDA is guided by a strategic plan based on a five year timeline which focuses on immediate and long term growth
